Dr. Wayne Hsueh (pronounced ‘shay’) was recruited to RWJ Barnabas Health in order to provide specialized care in all aspects of Rhinology, Sinus and Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery. He grew up in the suburbs of Detroit, MI and completed his undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, graduating with highest honors, Magna Cum Laude. He was accepted into the prestigious and coveted accelerated track, the Honors Program in Medical Education, at Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, IL where he obtained his Doctor of Medicine. After medical school, Dr. Hsueh journeyed to New York to complete his residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, NY. During residency he garnered deep respect amongst all his peers and was named Academic Chief Resident. He won numerous honors including several Best Resident Research Awards and the Chief Resident of the Year. After residency, Dr. Hsueh completed a nationally and internationally renowned fellowship in Rhinology, Sinus and Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery with Dr. Jean Anderson Eloy at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. He is now a director for the fellowship program as well. Dr. Hsueh’s specialized training is what separates him from other surgeons. He has extensive experience in medical conditions such as chronic sinusitis, nasal polyps, allergy, aspirin-exacerbated respiratory disease, and nose bleeds. Surgically, Dr. Hsueh is a leader and innovator in functional and advanced endoscopic sinus surgery, septal surgery, inferior turbinate resection, nasal cavity and sinus cancer, balloon sinuplasty, nasal valve surgery, rhinoplasty, CSF leaks and minimally invasive sinus and skull base surgery. He has published extensively on these topics with state-of-the-art reviews and multiple book chapters. He is currently an associate editors of a nationally peer-reviewed journal, the Annals of Otology, Rhinology & Laryngology. Dr. Hsueh’s training along with his personal dedication, allows him to customize his surgical and medical management skills to meet the needs of his patients. He embraces a patient centered approach with an emphasis on patient education, active dialogue and shared decision-making throughout the treatment process.
