Dr. Napolitano is a graduate of the Rutger’s College of Pharmacy, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences. He received his medical degree from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where he became a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Napolitano served as Administrative Chief Resident during his senior year as a General Ophthalmology Resident at New Jersey Medical School. He completed a two year Fellowship at the prestigious Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in 1994.
Dr. Napolitano is Board Certified in Ophthalmology and a Fellow in the American Academy of Ophthalmology as well as a member of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. He is an attending physician and Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Bristol Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital, Hackensack University Hospital, and the Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital. Dr. Napolitano is also the Surgical and Medical Consultant for the State University of New York (SUNY) College of Optometry in New York City.
As a flight surgeon with the Operation Blessing International Flying Hospital Team, Dr. Napolitano has participated in multiple international medical missions. He has performed eye surgery on the specially converted L-1011 jumbo jet while serving on missions to eight countries around the world including Mexico, India, El Salvador, Ecuador, Brazil and Kazakhstan. His most recent mission was with the World Medical Missions organization in Kenya.
A published author and educator in the field of children’s eye disorders and adult motility disorders, Dr. Napolitano has consistently been selected as a top eye surgeon in the coveted Castle Connelly Guide.
Dr. Napolitano has completed work on an international committee of eye care professionals, epidemiologists and medical educators formed by the International Special Olympics. Their Global Curriculum has been used to improve the evaluation and treatment of special needs patients around the world.
Dr. Napolitano is one of the regions most experienced and well respected Pediatric Ophthalmologists and Strabismologists. He cares for people using the latest treatments for ocular misalignments and eye movement disorders. Among other techniques, he incorporates the adjustable suture technique for improved outcomes in his care of many adults and some children with strabismus.
