Alan E. Cooper, MD, is a sports-medicine fellowship trained, board-certified orthopedic surgeon, who recently joined The Department of Surgery at Saint Barnabas Medical Center. Prior to joining Saint Barnabas he was in private practice for more than 15 years in Pennsylvania. He has served as team physician/orthopedist for multiple high schools, colleges, and professional teams, including the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Cavaliers professional football and basketball teams.
He received his medical degree from Hahnemann University/Drexel University School of Medicine, Philadelphia, PA and performed his Orthopedic surgical residency at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Cooper completed his sports medicine fellowship at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland, Ohio. He has presented at numerous national meetings and served on the Editorial Advisory Board, of Orthopedic Technology Review. He is a fellow of American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
In addition to his role as a general orthopedic surgeon at Saint Barnabas Medical Center, Dr. Cooper will help enhance and improve the lives of athletes of all ages. He specializes in all aspects of sports-medicine including non-surgical regenerative treatment of athletic-related injuries, shoulder and knee arthroscopic reconstruction and reverse shoulder replacements. He incorporates the latest technological advances in order to return patients to an active and healthy lifestyle by customizing treatment plan specific to each individual.
